Solar Panels Don’t Belong in the Landfill
Solar panels contain glass, aluminum, silicon and small amounts of metals that should be handled properly at the end of their life. Many landfills will not accept them as regular trash.
The EPA explains how end-of-life panels are regulated in its guide on end-of-life solar panels.
We remove the equipment, sort it, and send panels to proper recycling or disposal channels. Panels still in good working condition may be reused instead of scrapped, and you receive documentation of what was removed.

Your removal checklist
- Complete removal of panels, rails, mounts and wiring
- Electrical safely disconnected and made safe
- Every roof penetration sealed and left watertight
- Panels sorted for reuse, recycling or proper disposal

Why Homeowners Choose Permanent Solar Removal
End-of-life systems
Older panels or inverters that are no longer worth repairing or relocating.
Damaged panels
Cracked, burnt or storm-damaged modules that cannot be reinstalled.
Selling your home
Buyers or inspectors asking for the system to be removed before closing.
Upgrading the system
Clearing the old array before a new, more efficient system is installed.
Roof or remodel plans
Removing a system you no longer want before major roof or structural work.
Failed installer
A system that stopped working after the original installer went out of business.
What Happens to the Electrical Side?
Permanent removal is more than the panels. The inverter, disconnects, conduit and wiring also need to be safely removed or made safe, and the utility account may need to be updated once the system is gone.
We explain what applies to your home and utility before the job starts, so there are no surprises after the panels come down.
Not ready to retire the system?
If the panels still work, you may be better off moving them. See our solar panel relocation service, or our solar panel repair services if the system just needs fixing.

Frequently Asked Questions
What homeowners ask before retiring a solar system. Still have a question? Call (469) 283-1089.
Can I just throw old solar panels away?
Solar panels should not go in regular household trash. Many landfills turn them away, and they should be routed to recycling or proper disposal. We handle that as part of the removal.
Will removing my solar panels damage my roof?
Not when it is done correctly. After the panels and mounts are removed, every penetration is sealed so the roof stays watertight.
Do I need to tell my utility if I remove my solar system?
Usually yes, because your account may be set up for solar. We will explain the next steps for your utility when we quote the job.
Can I remove leased or financed solar panels?
Leased systems belong to the leasing company, and financed systems may have lender conditions. Check with them before permanent removal.
How much does solar panel removal and disposal cost?
Cost depends on system size, roof type and the amount of electrical work involved. Request a free assessment for a written quote.
